The private ambulance was left along the road by the man who survived a serious vehicle crash earlier in the day.

A man,who survived a serious car crash during a police pursuit,  walked out of a Virginia hospital Monday night and stole an ambulance.

Rickey Lowe, 32, of Manassas, who was wearing a hospital gown, still had an IV in his arm when he jumped behind the wheel of the private ambulance, WRC reported.

Lowe abandoned the ambulance a few miles away.

Hours earlier, Lowe was a passenger in a stolen vehicle that was chased by police. It crashed on U.S. 50 near I-66. Video shows a white vehicle speeding toward an exit, veering left into the grass and going airborne. The crash caused parts of the vehicle, including the top, to fly off.

Two of the five occupants of the vehicle suffered life-threatenting injuries.

Officers recovered two guns and narcotics from the stolen vehicle.
